Quick Start and Basic Functions
1. How to turn on the device
Press and hold the multifunction button for more than 3 seconds. When the indicators blink, release the button.
After power-on, the device emits a sound signal and shows the startup indication:
| What happens | Indication |
|---|---|
| The device started normally, no errors | Two short high success signals; all LEDs quickly blink 2 times in their primary colors |
| Errors were detected during startup | Low double error signal |
| The device started, but is not in the protected SECURED state | High warning alert signal 3 times |
After 2 sound signals are heard, indicating readiness, the device is on and ready to scan tags.
If the device does not respond to normal power-on, charge it via USB. When Type-C charging is connected, the device turns on automatically and no additional action is required to turn it on.
Note: while charging is in progress, the device cannot be turned off.
After power-on, pay attention to the 2nd LED:
| 2nd LED indication | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Fast blue blinking | Device is on, Bluetooth connection is not established |
| Slow blue blinking | One or more Bluetooth devices are connected |
| Fast green blinking | Bluetooth data exchange is in progress |
| Steady green | Bluetooth transmission error or failure |
2. How to start or stop reading UHF RFID tags
Briefly press the multifunction button for not more than 1 second.
Each short press toggles Inventory mode, the tag reading mode:
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Short press when Inventory is stopped | UHF RFID tag reading starts |
| Short press when Inventory is active | UHF RFID tag reading stops |
Press the button once. The 1st LED starts fast blinking white, after which the device begins reading nearby UHF tags.
When a tag is read, the device plays a short medium confirmation signal (confirm). To stop scanning, press the button once again. The white indicator stops blinking.
Important: scanning mode significantly consumes battery power. Start scanning only when necessary to save battery charge.
Scanning can also be started and stopped through the UHFS mobile application or through an information-system application that integrates UHFS SDK. The mobile application also allows you to monitor battery charge, view read tag data, check device status and manage device settings.
3. How to connect via Bluetooth
-
Turn on the device.
-
Open an application that works with UHFS devices, for example UW Demo.
-
Find the device in the Bluetooth device list.
-
Connect to it.
After a successful connection, the device plays one short high success signal.
After connection, the 2nd LED should switch to slow blue blinking.
4. How to turn off the device
Press and hold the button for more than 3 seconds.
When the device is off, all LEDs must be off.
5. How to understand battery and charging status
The main battery indication is shown by the 3rd LED.
| 3rd LED indication | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Slow red blinking | The device is operating from battery |
| Fast red blinking | Charger connected, battery is charging |
| Steady red | Charger connected, battery charged to 100% |
| Steady yellow-green | Charging error, battery overheating or battery fault |
| Fast yellow-green blinking | USB data exchange is in progress |
If the 3rd LED is steady yellow-green, disconnect the device from the charger, let it cool down and try charging again later. If the indication repeats, the device requires inspection.
If the battery has been fully discharged, the 3rd LED may light up yellow-green during the first 20 seconds after the charger is connected. This time is required for the battery to gain an initial charge.
